“Roasted in West Sumatra” is not decoration on a pack. It describes how VERLO operates: origin, roasting and commercial work exist in the same provincial system.
The operational reality
VERLO is based in Bukittinggi and roasts in West Sumatra. That placement means:
- sourcing work happens close to origin;
- roasting happens in the same region as the coffee’s place of origin;
- supply relationships are maintained face-to-face rather than through brokers.
This is the practical reason regional sourcing matters to VERLO. It is a matter of operations and relationship, not a marketing claim about superiority.

VERLO deliberately avoids unverified claims. Proximity to origin does not magically make coffee better, and VERLO does not claim otherwise. What it does is make documentation possible: because the team works in West Sumatra, the first-hand material behind each origin is actually attainable.
The roastery
The roastery is the centre of the operation. Visit the roastery page for the equipment, process and people behind the roast.
